Ellie Joannou was born in London in 1974 to Lietta and Dakis Joannou. At the age of six, she moved with her family to Athens, where she lives and works to this day. She studied Graphic Design at the New England School of Art and Design (NESAD) in Boston.
Having grown up surrounded by art collected by her parents, in an environment that fostered creative ideas, encouraged Ellie to explore her own artistic ingenuity. Ever since she was young, she remembers herself doodling in notebooks and dabbling in arts and crafts while experimenting with collage using photographs, magazine cutouts, and empty packs of cigarettes. These were her first steps to expanding her creativity.
Being a firm believer that nothing is impossible as long as one dares and that inspiration can be found in the tritest of objects, has opened up a world of infinite creative possibilities for Ellie. Her creative interests span a variety of areas, from interior and furniture design to logo design, to putting together curated, feast-like dinners and creating narrative works that carry personal stories.
